Tiffin University (4-9, 1-6 G-MAC) fell to Mercyhurst 26-1, as the 13th-ranked Lakers lived up to their ranking at Frost Kalnow Stadium.
The Lakers opened in strong fashion, outshooting TU 25-3 in the first quarter to take a 6-1 lead. The pressure continued in the second quarter with Mercyhurst holding a 20-0 shot edge to lead 16-1 at the half.Â
Tiffin got its lone goal at the 8:39 mark of the opening quarter when
Connor Gucwa scored off a tough angled shot to make it 3-1, Lakers. It was one of only three shots the Dragons had in the opening half as Mercyhurst outshot them 43-3.
The Lakers controlled the faceoffs, winning 24 of 31, while also winning groundballs 48-15 and forcing 23 TU turnovers. Overall for the game they held a 66-12 shot advantage.
Tyler Nutting made 15 saves over 45 minutes in goal, while
Spencer Bjork finished the game with 3 saves in 15 minutes.
