The Dragons (6-7, 4-1 G-MAC) outshot Malone 38-15 en route to a dominant 16-5 victory to earn their fourth conference victory thus far.
Â
Tiffin outnumbered the opposition 16-9 on draw controls and forced the Pioneers into 24 total turnovers for the game.
Â
Malone struck first and held a 2-1 lead following
Brenna Bohan's goal to get the Dragons on the board. That lead lasted for just over five minutes before
Katelyn Jarvis received a pass from
Guinevere Salas and netted the equalizer. It took just 28 seconds for TU to earn its first lead of the game after a solo effort from Bohan found the back of the cage.
Â
The Dragons scored twice more in the final two and a half minutes to hold a 5-2 advantage heading into the second quarter. Tiffin outscored the Pioneers 3-1 in the second quarter including a pair of goals from
Caylin Kunze to make it 8-3 at the half.
Â
It was all one-way action for TU in the third quarter as it held Malone scoreless while adding six goals to increase the lead to 14-3. Two goals apiece in the fourth and final quarter saw Tiffin seal the victory 16-5.
Â
It was a career day for Kunze as she set career-highs in goals (5), points (5), draw controls (5), and ground balls (4). Bohan ended with four goals followed by
Cassidy Kumiega and
Lillian Graham each with two. Graham and
Sydney Dean also finished with a team-high two caused turnovers on the day.
Â
Jenay Rennie made five saves in 53 and a half minutes in the cage while freshman
Sadie Wermuth tallied two saves as well.
Â
The Dragons will now head to Walsh for a matchup with the Cavaliers on Sunday, April 14 before returning home to take on Findlay in their regular season finale the following Wednesday, April 17.
