The Dragons (14-19, 9-10 G-MAC) hosted Findlay in a midweek doubleheader resulting in a split after Tiffin took game one 6-1 before suffering a narrow 11-8 defeat.
Â
Ben Hubert took to the mound for TU in game one, earning his second win of the season after tossing 4.1 scoreless innings. He allowed just three hits and tallied one strikeout before
Zach Johnson entered the game in relief.
Â
Tiffin took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second following a pair of RBI-singles from both
Cal Brazier and
Adam Deitschel. The Dragons added two more in the fifth and following a solo home run from Findlay, plated another two in the sixth to seal the victory.
Â
Tommy Thamann ended 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and an RBI while Brazier and Aiden Grabowski were both 2-for-3. Brazier also posted a double and led the team with two runs scored.
Â
Game number two was a high scoring affair that began with TU taking an early lead after scoring three runs in the first.
Andrew Fairbrother and Brazier both brought home runs to gift the Dragons a 3-0 lead.
Â
The lead was quickly erased, however, as Findlay rattled off a seven-run top of the second. In the bottom half of the inning, Tiffin battled back after an RBI-double by
Ty Hatfield was followed up by a two-run home run from Fairbrother to make it a one-run deficit.
Â
The Dragons spent the rest of the game trying to catch up but were unable to regain the lead.
Â
Hatfield finished 2-for-3 with a team-high three runs scored and added an RBI as well. Fairbrother ended 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI's while
Jack Clancy was 1-for-1 with a double and two runs scored.
Â
Tiffin will now head to Lake Erie for a four-game series in Painesville, Ohio beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 13.
