The Dragons (18-11, 11-9 G-MAC) are advancing to their first conference semifinal appearance in 25 years after defeating the top-seeded Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers 72-53 in the quarterfinals of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament.
Tiffin got off to a lightning quick start, knocking down shot after shot to take a 13-2 lead after the opening five minutes. However, the Panthers began to steadily chip away at the deficit and get back into the game and eventually taking their only lead of the game at 27-26 with three and a half minutes left in the half.
After holding a one-point lead at the half, the Dragons came with a stellar second-half performance that was kick-started with an 18-6 run. TU shot an impressive 58.6 percent from the floor while holding the Panthers to just 22.2 percent shooting and outscoring them 40-22 for the half.
Four Dragons reached double-digit scoring outputs, led by
Wesley Jordan with 19 points and six rebounds.
Morgan Taylor stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, and three steals.
Ian Lopez added 14 points on 66.6 percent shooting followed by
Brandon Swaby with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Tiffin now awaits to see who it will face in the semifinal round which will take place on Friday, March 8. The location of the game will be determined by the highest remaining seed.
