Tiffin University (3-2) enjoyed a strong second quarter and used it to catapult to a 19-7 win on the road at Montreat.
Trailing 2-1 entering the second quarter, the Dragons shut out Montreat 8-0 in the period to take a 9-2 lead at halftime. The Dragons outshot Montreat in the first half 26-13.
Aydan Gilbert scored four consecutive goals in the second quarter while
Brandon MacDonell scored twice.Â
Tiffin continued the offensive attack in the third quarter as they outscored Montreat 7-3. Gilbert continued his hot streak with four more goals in the period, while MacDonell,
Isaac Wert, and
Kyle Geller also had scores.
Overall Tiffin outshot Montreat 56-23 including 30-10 in the second half. They also had 35 shots on goal to Montreat's 14. The Dragons' defense forced 29 turnovers with
Mike Roman getting 6 of those.Eight different Dragons had caused turnovers.
Tiffin also held a 54-42 ground ball edge and went 23 for 26 on clear attempts.
Gilbert led the Dragons with 8 goals and an assist, while MacDonell had 4 goals and 6 ground balls. Geller had 3 goals and 5 ground balls. Roman added a team-high 14 ground balls.Â
