Dragons lose close game to Felician 13-9

Tiffin University (3-3) battled Felician in a close game, but came apart in the second half in a narrow 13-9 defeat.

Tiffin trailed at the half just 5-4 with both teams matching each other with 19 shots apiece. Ground balls were also close for both teams, with Felician holding a 27-23 edge.

Felician opened the second half by tallying three straight goals to pull ahead 8-4. The Dragons were playing catch up the rest of the game, pulling to within two goals on three separate occasions.

Goals by Aydan Gilbert and Isaac Wert midway through the third quarter brought TU to within 8-6. Trailing 9-6, Matthew Nunnaro's goal made it 9-7.

With 8:35 left in the game, another goal by Nunnaro made it 10-8. Felician put the game out of reach immediately after however, as they scored three straight goals to make it 13-8 with 15 seconds left.

Over the final 8:00 of the game, Felician's defense clamped down, allowing just four more shots the rest of the way.

Overall Felician held a 30-10 shot edge in the second half and 49-29 overall. TU also lost the ground ball battle 53-39. Felician also won 20 of the 25 faceoffs.

Aydan Gilbert led the team with 3 goals while Sam Trujillo and Nunnaro had 2 each. Brandon MacDonell and Wert also scored.

Trujillo, MacDonell, and Connor Gucwa had assists. Gilbert led the team with 8 ground balls while Dominic Giacona had 7 ground balls with 5 caused turnovers.

Tyler Nutting took the loss in goal, making 11 saves.
