Tiffin University (16-14, 2-4 G-MAC) gained a split at Cedarville, winning 5-0 after falling in the opener 7-2.
In the shutout win,
Jules King tossed a gem, allowing just 4 hits over 7 innings with 7 strikeouts.Â
She got plenty of run support as TU racked up 5 runs on 10 hits and 3 walks.Â
Tiffin got on the board in the second inning.
Molly Koesters singled and moved to second on an error in center field. After a single from
Baylee Mirgon moved Koesters to third,
Iris Pierson brought her home with a sacrifice fly.Â
Tiffin got another run in the fourth. Koesters had another single and pinch runner
Ryan Wallace then stole second. Wallace then came home on a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.
Tiffin expanded its lead in the sixth with two more runs. Koesters and
Aubrie Harper led off with singles, with Koesters coming around to score on an error on a fielder's choice by
Iris Pierson.
Tara Gall then drilled a double to bring in pinch runner
Maya Miles.
Tiffin's final run came in the seventh. With two outs,
Maci Head singled and Koesters doubled to center field for another run.
Overall Koesters went 4 for 4 while King also had 2 hits.Â
In the opener, Cedarville scored six runs in the first three innings to take a commanding lead. Tiffin had chances with 9 hits and 2 walks but it left 9 on base.
Claire Feldkamp took the loss, allowing 5 earned runs in 3 innings.
Lexi Key finished up with 3 innings of 4-hit ball.
Tiffin got its first run in the second inning.
Maci Head walked and advanced to second on a passed ball. With two outs, Koesters singled to make the score 1-1. The Yellow Jackets responded with three runs in the bottom of the second.
Tiffin got its final run in the sixth. Harper led off with a triple and came home on Koesters' single.
Head and Koesters both had two hits, with Koesters also getting 2 RBI.
