After narrowly falling to the Storm at home just a week ago, the Dragons (17-11, 11-9 G-MAC) got their revenge with a convincing 70-57 victory on the road at Lake Erie.
The win helped Tiffin clinch a spot in the G-MAC Championship Tournament which will begin with the semifinal round on Tuesday, March 5.
The Dragons got off to a slow start, trailing 11-2 after the opening three and a half minutes of play but were able to bounce back with a 13-3 run to take the lead on a three-pointer from
Jacob Pleiman. Lake Erie later tied the game at 20 apiece but was never able to regain the lead as TU held the advantage throughout the rest of the game.
Tiffin held an eight-point lead at the half and was even better offensively in the second half, shooting 48.4 percent from the field and 45.9 percent in total for the game.
TU led by as many as 20 points thanks to a dunk by
Rhaven Brown to make it 67-47 with roughly four and a half minutes left to go.
30 of the Dragons' 70 points were scored by
Wesley Jordan who shot 66.6 percent from the field and converting two of his three shots from deep as well. He added five rebounds while Pleiman came off the bench as the second-highest scorer with nine points in 10 minutes, all of which came from beyond the arc.
Morgan Taylor led the team in rebounds with six and blocks with two, adding six points. He also tied for the team-high in assists with
Joshua Rivers with five each.
Tiffin now enters the conference tournament as the number eight seed and will travel to Kentucky Wesleyan College to face the number one-seeded Panthers on Tuesday, March 5 in the quarterfinals.
