The Dragons (8-10, 3-1 G-MAC) closed out a successful first conference series with a pair of victories over the Thomas More Saints behind the bat of
Logan Swonger.
Tiffin put runs on the board early in game one and never looked back, taking game one 10-3.
The Dragons posted three runs in the bottom of the first on a two-RBI double by
Cal Brazier followed by a single from
Tommy Thamann which brought home Brazier. The Saints cut the lead to just one in the top half of the second before TU tallied four more in the bottom half. Three of the four runs came with one swing of the bat as Swonger fired a home run over the right field wall, extending the lead to five runs.
The bats stayed hot in the third as well as Tiffin added two more on a sacrifice fly by
Ty Hatfield followed by a solo home run from
Andrew Fairbrother, his first of the season.
Scotty Adelman earned his first win of the year on the mound, tossing 4.2 innings and allowing just one run on six hits with four punchouts.
Game two was a bit more back and forth as the Saints held a 2-0 lead heading into the fourth inning.
Connor Huzicka delivered a single to bring home Mirabal for the first run of the game before a two-RBI double by
Adam Deitschel gifted the Dragons the 3-2 lead.
Tied at five in the sixth inning, Swonger hit his second homer of the day, this time a three-run shot to put Tiffin in front, 8-5. The Dragons added an insurance run in the seventh en route to a 9-5 victory.
TU now heads to Hillsdale for their next conference series beginning on Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m.
