Errors sink Dragons in twinbill loss to Northwood

Tiffin University (11-11) committed four errors over two games, allowing Northwood to break open close games as TU dropped its G-MAC openers 14-1 and 6-3.

In the first game, the Dragons struck first and held a 1-0 lead heading into the fifth inning. In the second inning, Maddie Woods singled and stole second. With two outs, Aubrie Harper drove her home with a single.

Northwood struck in the fifth. A walk followed by an error and two doubles gave the Timberwolves three runs as they took a 3-1 lead.

NU pushed across five more runs in the sixth (two unearned) as they blew the game open and took an 8-1 lead. Six more runs in the seventh inning gave NU 14 runs on 14 hits.

Tiffin could not get the offense going, mustering just three hits after the second inning. Jules King took the loss, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) over 5.2 innings with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks.

Claire Feldkamp, Lexi Key, and Isabella St. Peter pitched the final 1.1 innings, allowing 10 runs (8 earned).

In the nightcap, the Dragons again took an early lead with two runs in the first inning. Reagan Mengerink was hit by a pitch and Maci Head walked. With two outs, Woods doubled to drive in both runs.

Feldkamp started and went the distance but ran into trouble in the third inning. An error in left field opened the door for NU to score two runs (one earned) and tie the score 2-2.

Northwood scored four more runs in the fourth. An error in the outfield with two outs allowed two unearned runs to score as the Timberwolves pushed their lead to 6-2.

Maci Head drilled a leadoff solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 6-3 but Tiffin could get no closer. The Dragons could not get a runner in scoring position after the first inning.

Feldkamp took the loss, allowing 6 runs (3 earned) with 5 strikeouts and 8 hits over 7 innings.
