Tiffin University (3-5, 0-2 G-MAC) could not control the faceoffs, allowing Malone to control the tempo in a 17-8 road loss to the Pioneers.
Malone held a 22-7 faceoff advantage, leading to a 38-14 ground ball and 45-35 shot edge. Malone held a 25-13 shot edge in the first half along with a 21-6 ground ball lead as they amassed a 10-4 halftime lead.
Malone raced out to a 3-0 lead but Tiffin came back. Trailing 4-1,
Brandon MacDonell and
Matthew Nunnaro both scored to make it 4-3. Malone, though, responded with four straight goals to take a solid 8-3 advantage.
The Dragons were unable to make up the difference in the second half as they were outscored 9-5 the rest of the way.
Nunnaro led the team with 3 goals, while MacDonell and
Connor Gucwa both had 2 goals.
Aydan Gilbert also added a goal. Gucwa and MacDonell had assists.
Mike Roman led the team with 4 ground balls while
