Tiffin University (3-4, 0-1 G-MAC) fell behind early and could not catch up, falling to Walsh 19-7 in its G-MAC opener.
After
Connor Gucwa tied the score 1-1 at the 11:00 mark of the first quarter, the Cavaliers responded with three straight goals to make it 4-1.
Sam Trujillo then scored off a pass from Gucwa to make it 4-2, but Walsh bounced back to score 5 more goals and jump ahead 9-2 after one quarter.
Tiffin held Walsh to just 2 goals in the second quarter but could only manage one itself, as
Brandon MacDonell scored early in the period. Walsh led at the half 12-3.
Tiffin managed 30 total shots in the game but could not get most of them in the net as they scored 4 more goals over the final 30 minutes. Overall Walsh outshot TU 47-30 and held a 44-20 ground ball advantage.
The Cavaliers also dominated the faceoffs, winning 26 of 30 on the day to control the tempo.Â
Aydan Gilbert and MacDonell had 2 goals apiece while Gucwa,
Kyle Geller, and Trujillo also had goals. Gucwa led with 2 assists while
Matthew Nunnaro also had a dish.
Tyler Nutting took the loss in goal, making 16 saves.
