Tiffin University's (13-7, 7-5 G-MAC) men's basketball team traveled to Cedarville for its one and only matchup against the Yellow Jackets this season, earning a hard-fought 79-75 victory.
The Dragons shot 46.2 percent from the field and 86.2 percent from the charity stripe en route to stunning first place in the G-MAC.
It was a back-and-forth start to the game before TU garnered a nine-point lead with three and a half minutes left in the first half. A 7-0 run by Cedarville was capped by a buzzer-beating three to cut the deficit to just two at 31-29.
It was another tight half as there were a total of 10 lead changes throughout the game, before Tiffin pulled away down the stretch to seal the victory.
A trio of Dragons reach 20-plus points, led by
Ian Lopez with 24 on five-of-seven shooting from deep and a team-high seven boards. He was followed by
Wesley Jordan with 23 points and five rebounds while
Morgan Taylor added 20 points and a career-high nine assists.
The Dragons will now return home for a rivalry matchup as they host the Findlay Oilers on Thursday, February 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gillmor Athletic Center.
