Tiffin University (4-23, 2-17 G-MAC) nearly completed a massive second-half comeback but came up just short, falling to Lake Erie 61-54.
Tiffin trailed just 12-8 after the first quarter but a 5 percent shooting effort in the second quarter proved disastrous as Lake Erie outscored TU 18-4 in the quarter and led 30-12 at halftime.
The Storm continued to pull away midway through the third quarter posting a lead of 27 points at 40-13 at the 7:31 mark.
But then the Dragons came to life.
Tiffin went on a huge 35-11 run over the 10 minutes to pull to within 51-48 with 3:51 to play.
Mahya Lindesmith led the attack, going 6 for 11 from three points for a game-high 20 points.
Presley Feltner also exploded inside, scoring 10 points with 9 rebounds.
Tiffin kept chipping away and pulled to within 2 points at 54-52 with 1:51 remaining. The Storm managed to tack on 5 points over the next 50 seconds to push their lead to 7 points with 1:06 left. The Dragons could not get any closer as they lost a hard-fought contest.
Despite a 47 percent field goal percentage in the final quarter, the Dragons could not overcome the other three quarters. Overall TU shot just 27 percent in the game and were outscored in the paint 32-22.Â
After Lindesmith and Feltner,
Grace Craig had 9 points while
Savanah Richards had 7 points.
Kirsten Williams finished with 8 rebounds, while
