4th Quarter Struggles Doom Dragons in 13-8 Road Loss

The Dragons (1-2) battled hard through three quarters, going toe to toe with Davis and Elkins, but were unable to stop a late surge in what ended as a 13-8 defeat.

It was a very even matchup, with the Senators having the slight edge in draw controls, 13-10, as well as ground balls, 28-24.

The opening goal of the game did not come until just over ten minutes in, as Lauren Walsh scored with a man-advantage to earn Tiffin a 1-0 lead. The game then came to life as Davis and Elkins scored three-straight over the final two and a half minutes of the first quarter.

The Dragons trailed 4-1 before responding with four-consecutive goals of their own, kick-started by Katelyn Jarvis who netted twice followed by Cassidy Kumiega and Caylin Kunze with 39 seconds remaining. The goal by Kunze earned Tiffin a 5-4 lead at the half.

The back-and-forth continued into the third quarter as the Senators scored twice to regain the lead. Kunze and Kumiega came to the rescue yet again with a goal each, gifting the lead back to the Dragons, 7-6. TU held an 8-7 advantage with 12 minutes left in the game before Davis and Elkins caught fire and scored six in a row, four of which were man-up, to secure the victory.

Jarvis led the Dragons with three points, netting twice and recording an assist and a team-high four ground balls. Kunze and Kumiega both scored twice while Walsh ended with a goal and an assist. Jessa Zaheri was the final goal scorer for TU.

Lillian Graham tallied six draw controls and added two ground balls. Defensively, Sydney Dean and Brookelynne Brewer each had three caused turnovers. In the cage, Jenay Rennie racked up a total of 22 saves.

The Dragons' road trip continues as they now head to South Carolina for their next three contests, beginning with Southern Wesleyan on Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m.
