Tiffin University (2-2) split again on day two of the Music City Invitational, defeating McKendree 5-4 before falling to Harding 17-2 in 5 innings.
TU built a 5-0 lead on McKendree before holding off a late rally to win 5-4.
Claire Feldkamp got the win with 6 innings of work but it was a wild ride as she gave up 10 hits for 4 earned runs while fanning 7, walking 6, and tossing 3 wild pitches.
Jules King came on in relief with the bases loaded for an inning of work to pick up the save.
Tiffin got on the board in the first inning.
Jules King tripled to lead off the frame and came home on
Reagan Mengerink's flyout to left field.
Tiffin added three more runs in the third inning.
Baylee Mirgon singled and stole second. Mengerink then singled her home and scored herself when
Maci Head drilled a two-run home run to make it 4-0.
The Dragons got their final run in the fifth. King walked and stole second. Head then doubled to left center to drive her home.
Head finished with 2 hits in the game for 3 RBI including a double and home run.
Molly Koesters also had a double while King slapped a triple.
In the nightcap, TU gave up 5 in the first but got two runs back over the next three innings. Harding's 12-run fourth inning proved far too much to overcome, however.
Isabella St. Peter started and took the loss, lasting 4 innings and allowing 6 earned runs on 11 hits.Â
Trailing 5-0, the Dragons tried to get back into it in the second and third innings.
Maddie Woods singled, took second on a wild pitch, and reached third on a passed ball. Mirgon then singled her home to make it 5-1.
In the third, Head reached on a fielder's choice and Koesters came through with a two-out double to bring Tiffin to within 5-2.
Overall TU had 6 hits with Mengerink getting two of them.
Tiffin finishes its trip to Nashville with a single game against Wisconsin Parkside Feb. 18 at 11 am.
