Turnovers, shooting sinks Dragons 62-49

Tiffin University (4-20, 2-14 G-MAC) played close with Northwood early but could not sustain it, falling to the Timberwolves 62-49.

Both teams shot poorly to open the game, with Northwood holding a narrow 12-9 lead after one quarter. The Timberwolves improved to 53 percent shooting in the second quarter, though, outscoring the Dragons 20-8 in the period to take a 32-17 lead into the halftime break.

The Dragons shot just 23 percent in the opening half, and continued the trend with 21 percent shooting in the third quarter. This coupled with turnovers allowed Northwood to pull away with a 21-10 scoring edge that pushed its lead to 53-27 entering the final frame.

The Dragons got things going in the fourth quarter, outscoriong Northwood 22-9 in the quarter, but it was too little, too late.

Overall the Dragons were outscored inside 42-16 while 22 turnovers led to a 21-3 points off turnovers advantage for NU. The Dragons shot 28 percent for the game while also getting outrebounded 49-43.

Mahya Lindesmith had 14 points off 4 three-pointers while Tomi Hinkle also reached double figures with a team-high 15 points off the bench. Kirsten Williams had 8 points along with 10 rebounds and 4 assists. She now needs just 25 points to reach 1000 for her career.
