Tiffin University (0-1) played its first ever men's lacrosse game against Davenport, falling 22-6 at Frost Kalnow Stadium.
The Dragons gave up four goals early before
Isaac Wert scored TU's first goal off a pass from
Matthew Nunnaro to make it 4-1. Three more DU goals followed before
Aydan Gilbert scored an unassisted goal to make it 7-2 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was all Davenport, as it outshot the Dragons 21-3Â for a 9-0 scoring advantage heading into halftime. The score at the break was 16-2, Panthers.
The Panthers controlled the tempo throughout the first half, holding a 31-7 shot edge along with a 29-12 ground ball margin. They also won 17 of 20 faceoffs.
The two teams matched each other 17-17 on shots throughout the second half, with the Dragons getting a pair of goals from
Brandon MacDonell and
Kyle Geller, with
Sam Trujillo getting an assist on the second goal by Geller.
Tyler Nutting took the loss in goal, making 16 saves over 60 minutes.
Overall DU outshot TU 48-24 and held a 48-27 ground ball advantage.Â
