The Tiffin University women's soccer team (1-13-2, 1-9-2 G-MAC) dropped a 3-0 road decision to Lake Erie Thursday afternoon. Despite doubling the Storm in shot attempts, the Dragons were unable to break through for a goal as Lake Erie's defense held strong for the full 90 minutes.
The first shot attempt of the game came just 3:08 into the contest by Lake Erie's Leonie Witt and it resulted in a goal, putting the Storm on top 1-0 just over three minutes into the game. The Dragons had three shot attempts in the first half, but all were off target.
The TU defense kept it close throughout, but a foul inside the box by Maddie Davis led to a successful penalty kick by Lake Erie's Leonie Witt to double the lead in the 73rd minute. The Storm added a third and final goal in the 79th minute.
After being held to just three shot attempts in the first half, the Dragons were resilient offensively in the second half by firing 15 shot attempts with six landing on goal but were unable to sneak one into the back of the net. In the second half, TU had a 15-4 shot advantage and overall doubled the Storm in shot attempts, 18-9.
Callie Cacchione led the team in shot attempts with three while Suzy Hayes, Davis, and Tammie Shalit each recorded two.
Aubree Lee played all 90 minutes in goal and made three saves.
The Dragons play their final road game of the season on Saturday, November 2 against Cedarville at 4:30 p.m.
