Tiffin University (10-4-1, 9-2 G-MAC) pulled out a dramatic victory against visiting Ashland, scoring two late second-half goals to win 3-2.
Both sides battled through an even first half before Tiffin's
Caleb Gibbons put TU on the scoreboard with a goal off a pass from
Stephen Owusu in the 43rd minute. Ashland responded with 13 seconds left in the half with a goal from Pedro Faria to make it 1-1 at halftime.
The Eagles struck quickly in the second half with Oliver Lovell getting a goal in the 50th minute to put Ashland ahead 2-1.
Tiffin responded with a strong offensive attack, sending 8 shots at goal over the next 30 minutes.
Noah Purtz finally equalized off a goal assisted by
Freddie Oliver and
Anelson Azard in the 80th minute to make it 2-2.
Tiffin continued the attack and got the game-winning goal in the 84th minute off a goal from
Tate Newman with Azard and Gibbons assisting. Tiffin's defense allowed only one shot over the final 20 minutes of the game to secure the win.
Overall Tiffin held a 17-11 shot edge including 11-6 in the second half.Â
