Tiffin University (4-10, 2-4 G-MAC) was unable to complete a fourth-quarter comeback, falling to Hillsdale 71-62.
After a close first quarter ended with Tiffin trailing 15-13, Hillsdale upped its shooting to 40 percent while Tiffin hit at a 30 percent clip. The difference led to an 18-12 second-quarter scoring edge and an eventual 33-25 halftime lead.
Tiffin came out of the halftime break hot, embarking on a 13-5 run to tie the game 38-38 at the 3:38 mark of the third quarter.
Hillsdale bounced back quickly, turning it around on a 15-5 run mostly at the end of the third quarter leading to a 53-43 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Tiffin refused to back down, bursting on a 7-0 run over a 2:00 stretch to cut the deficit to 53-50 with 7:27 to play. The Dragons could get no closer, however, as the Chargers went on a subsequent 8-2 run that pushed their lead to 9 points with 2:24 to play.
Overall Tiffin's second-half shooting pushed them ahead of the Chargers in field goal percentage for the game 46-41 percent, but Hillsdale had a big edge from three-point land, hitting 10 treys to Tiffin's 3. Overall TU shot just 3 for 17 from three-point, while Hillsdale scorched the nets at a 10 for 21 clip from long range.
While the Dragons outscored Hillsdale in the paint 40-14, the Chargers outrebounded TU 40-30.
Kirsten Williams led the Dragons with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
Grace Craig also had 12 points with 4 rebounds.
