Despite a season-high of 26 points from
Wesley Jordan, the Dragons (9-5, 3-3 G-MAC) were unable to mount a comeback in a 69-61 defeat on the road to Malone University.
Tiffin looked good through the opening five and a half minutes, taking an 11-8 lead thanks to a three pointer by Jordan. However, the Dragons then went cold offensively as the Pioneers crafted a 17-4 run over the next six minutes to establish a 10-point lead.
With just under two minutes remaining in the half, Malone extended its lead to 15 before TU managed to cut it to 11 heading into halftime.
The Dragons came out strong from the break, cutting a nine-point deficit to just one following an 8-0 run which included threes from both Jordan and
Rhaven Brown. The back and forth continued as Malone was able to extend its lead back out once again to 10 points.
Under the two-minute mark, Tiffin continued to battle and made it a four-point game at 65-61. The Dragons were unable to get any closer as the Pioneers saw out the victory on their home court.
Jordan played well at both ends of the floor, tallying a season-high 26 points while adding eight rebounds and four blocks.
Morgan Taylor led the team in rebounds with 11 and assists with seven, both of which were season-highs for him as well. He and
Brandon Swaby both recorded eight points each.
The Dragons will now return home for back-to-back home games, beginning with a Whiteout Game against Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday, January 18 at 7:30 p.m.
