Dragons Split Twinbill against No. 10 West Chester

The Tiffin University baseball team (2-1) defeated West Chester 15-10, then lost 4-3 in game two.

Game One:
The Dragons scored one run in the first off an error to lead 1-0, but the Rams scored six runs to lead 6-1 after one inning of play.

Each team scored a run in the third inning to bring the score to 7-2. In the fifth inning, Tiffin scored two runs off a two-run home run by Ben Bach to cut the lead down to 7-4, but West Chester scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to 10-4.

TU tallied six runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at 10-10. Isaiah Mirabal singled to start the inning followed by two walks to load the bases. A single from Griffin Stevens scored a run. Then, Tim Orr hit a grand slam home run to center field bringing the Dragons within one of the Rams. Bach followed Orr with another home run to tie the game.

All tied up at 10-10 going into the eighth inning Tiffin scored five runs to take the lead. Orr singled to start the inning then Cal Brazier was hit by pitch, putting two runners on at first and second. Bach homered to left field to score three runs. Bobby Slusher walked and Hilario DeLaPaz homered to left field to give the Dragons a 15-10 lead.

Mat Carden got the win in relief as he pitched 3.0 innings, allowed one hit, and struck out four.

Ben Bach led the Dragons going 4-for-4 with two home runs, scored twice, and had five RBI, Tim Orr went 3-for-5 with two homers, scored three times, and registered five RBI.

Game Two:
The Dragons got on the board first in the second game as Ricky Havrilla doubled to left field to score Logan Swonger from first.

Ben Bach doubled Tiffin's lead with a home run to right field in the bottom of the fourth.

West Chester scored in the top of the fifth to cut the lead to 2-1, but TU countered with a single from Havrilla that scored Tommy Thammann from third to lead 3-1.

In the top of the seventh, the Rams scored three runs to take a 4-3 lead.

Ricky Havrilla led the team as he went 2-for-3 with two RBI, Ben Bach went 1-for-3 with a home run, and Bobby Slusher went 2-for-3.

Andrew Fairbrother took the loss on the mound as he pitched 0.2 innings allowed zero hits, one error, walked three, and allowed three runs.
