The Tiffin University baseball team closed out the 2026 season on Sunday and fell to Lake Erie twice, 3-1 in game one and 9-1 in game two.
With Lake Erie sweeping Sunday's games, the two teams split the four-game series after the Dragons earned two wins on Saturday.
Prior to the game, TU recognized eight seniors and the Dragons end the year with a 17-33 overall record with a 12-20 mark in conference play.
Game 1:
All of the offense in this one came in the third inning. The Storm got it started with a solo home run off starter Johnathon Ray and got a crucial two-out hit for their third run of the game.
The Dragons' lone run of the game was a solo home run by Brayden Clark in the same inning. Tiffin had at least one runner reach base in every inning but could not get the timely hits to push runs across.
Ray took the loss and dropped to 3-8 on the season. He threw 5.2 innings and struck out nine while allowing three runs on six hits with three walks. Patrick Dinnen recorded 1.1 scoreless innings of work and struck out one.
Five hitters recorded one hit each.
Game 2:
This one was another pitching duel that saw the first runs of the game scored in the third inning. Lake Erie got a two-run home run for their first runs of the game, and Gavin Marceric reached on an error and would score on a wild pitch for Tiffin's only run of the game.
The score remained 2-1 until the eighth inning when the Storm plated seven to make it 9-1. The Storm hit a grand slam off reliever Andrew Baileys to make it 6-1 and then scored three more with two outs.
TU once again couldn't get much going offensively and managed just three hits in the game.
Trent Hedges started and took the loss, dropping to 1-4. He threw 6.0 innings and struck out 10 while allowing two runs on three hits with three walks. Hayden Bush pitched a scoreless inning, and Jeffery Oister tossed 1.1 scoreless innnings.
Clark, Jayden Leach, and Michael Patellis recorded one hit each.
