Tiffin University (2-6, 1-2 G-MAC) picked up its first conference win of the season against Ohio Dominican, winning 64-57.
The Dragons benefited from strong second-half shooting and maintained the lead throughout 33 of the game's 40 minutes. Overall TU shot 48 percent in the game while ODU hit at at 38 percent clip.
Tiffin led after the first quarter 20-16 but the Panthers narrowed the gap in a second quarter that saw both teams struggle from the floor. Tiffin managed just 9 points in the period and led 29-28 at halftime.
Tiffin opened the third quarter with a 17-8 run that pushed its lead to 46-36 at the 3:25 mark. After ODU went on a 7-0 run to cut TU's lead to 3 points, the Dragons bounced back on a 9-0 burst that pushed their lead to 12 points early in the fourth quarter.
The Panthers continued to battle and cut the lead to 4 points with 1:28 to play but the Dragons hit their free throws down the stretch, connecting on 7 of 8 attempts over the final 90 seconds to shut the door.
Savanah Richards led the team with 12 points while playing 37 minutes, while
Kirsten Williams tallied 11 points with 7 rebounds and
Ellie Gabel hit 10 points. Williams and Gabel combined to go 5 for 9 from three point land.
Grace Craig also provided 10 points off the bench along with 5 rebounds, while
Tomi Hinkle had 8 points.
