Tiffin University (1-6) could not get the offense working in the fourth quarter, falling in a close game at Mercyhurst 55-42.
The Dragons opened strong, winning the first quarter 16-11, but the tide turned in the next period. Tiffin's field goal percentage fell from 46 percent to just 18 percent in the second quarter, as the Lakers outscored them 19-7 and took a 30-23 lead into the halftime break.
Tiffin bounced back after the break, shooting 46 percent and outscoring the Lakers 14-13 in the third quarter. Tiffin still trailed by six points heading into the final 10 minutes.
The Dragons, though, hit a mammoth cold streak, not sinking a field goal in the period until there were 39 seconds left in the game. By that point, Mercyhurst had outscored TU 12-3 in the period and had the game in hand.
For the game, the Dragons shot just 28 percent while the Lakers hit at a 39 percent clip.Â
Savanah Richards was the lone TU player in double figures, scoring 10 points.
Presley Feltner had 8 points with 5 rebounds while Tomi Hiinkle had 6 points.
Kirsten Williams led the team with 12 rebounds.
The Dragons now return home to take on Ohio Dominican Nov. 9 at 1 pm.
