Tiffin University (10-2) fell in a razor-thin battle with Augusta 4-3.
TU started well in doubles play. Anaelle Lepinay/Allessandra Maganuco handled Claudia Borbon Roca/Teresa Franco Dias 6-1, while Jessica Peace/Shea Foster did the same with Edith Rueda Croda/Lea Mocher 6-1. Carina Avram/Emily Barrett were also in control before halting play against Julia De Macedo Mo/Clara Basunana deMig 5-2 (unfinished).
Things were much closer in singles. TU suffered hard setbacks in the first three singles matches. Claudia Borbon Roca beat Carina Avram 6-2, 6-0, Julia De Macedo Mo did the same to Emily Barrett 6-2, 6-0, and Edith Rueda Croda downed Emily Young 6-2, 6-2.
The Dragons came back in the next two matches. Anaelle Lepinay defeated Teresa Franco Dias 6-4, 6-1, while Allessandra Maganuco beat Clara Basunana deMig 6-2, 6-1. The deciding match was a marathon three-setter, with Carlota Costa Manero narrowly beating Jessica Peace 3-6, 6-2, 15-13.
