Dragons Make History, Fly Past Fighting Scots

Box Score

TIFFIN, Ohio - There was not much that could stop Tiffin women's basketball on Thursday night, as the Dragons scored a program-record 108 points en route to a 108-84 victory over the visiting Ohio Valley Fighting Scots.

Allie Miller led TU with a career-high 25 points and five steals, while Jasmine Watts recorded a double-double with a career-high 14 points and ten boards. After being out since Dec. 8 due to injury, Annie Santucci returned in fine form with 14 points and four assists. That trio played a huge part in Tiffin scoring a 61 points off the bench, while the starters recorded 47.

All in all, the Dragons had five players in double figures, as Sarah Cummings had 14 and Aarion Nichols 11.

Tiffin eclipsed their best shooting mark of the season by hitting 36-69 (52.2%) from the field. The Dragons also took 36 foul shots, making 28 for a rate of 77.8%. TU outrebounded Ohio Valley 45-40 and dished out 20 assists to OVU's 12.

As mentioned, the 108 points is a new Tiffin women's basketball record, surpassing the previous mark of 100 that was achieved on three separate occasions, most recently in Dec. 2005 against Ohio Dominican.

With their third-straight win, the Dragons improve to 6-12 overall and 3-9 in the G-MAC.

Tiffin led from start-to-finish, jumping out to an early 11-4 lead on a Santucci triple. Moments later, another Santucci three extended the lead to 23-9 with three minutes left in the opening quarter. Ohio Valley made a small run to end the quarter, cutting the deficit to 29-20.

The Fighting Scots clawed back to within three, 35-32, with 7:05 to play in the half, but a 21-10 Dragon run to close the half put the home team up 56-42 at the break.

Tiffin's advantage stayed up in double-digits the rest of the way, and it was Miller's three from the corner with 2:58 remaining in the game that broke the single-game points record. The Dragons led by as many as 25 before it was all said and done, taking the 24-point win.

TU will look to extend their winning streak to four games on Saturday when they host Ohio Dominican at 1:00 p.m.
