Tiffin University (9-6-3, 7-6-1 GLIAC) came through with 2 goals in the second half, defeating Findlay on the road 3-1 to clinch the final spot in the GLIAC Tournament Nov. 6. A loss would have allowed the Oilers to go.
Tiffin opened scoring in the 28th minute when Andre Landell turned in the box and put the ball in the upper right corner of the net for a 1-0 lead. But the Oilers answered just 14 seconds later with a goal that put the score 1-1 at the break.
The Dragons went ahead for good in the 66th minute when Austin Combs moved left and sent a shot across the goal to the right side for an unassisted goal.
Michael Bottomley then gave TU a big insurance goal in the 77th minute, taking a pass from Nemanja Jandric to put the game away.
Overall TU outshot the Oilers 19-17 while holding an 8-5 edge in corner kicks. Kyle Karagitz got the win in goal, making 7 saves.
