Things just got a little more crowded atop the GLIAC Men's Soccer standings.
Tiffin University (10-3-1, 9-3 GLIAC) entered their game with Northwood Friday in first place ahead of Saginaw Valley State and the Timberwolves but needed a strong weekend to maintain their position. A 1-0 loss to Northwood, however, dropped the Dragons out of first heading into a big showdown with the Cardinals on Sunday on the road.
After a scoreless first half, Northwood got on the board in the 61st minute when Gino Pasquali scored. Things went downhill from there for the Dragons, who were whistled for 25 fouls to Northwood's 11 in the game. The game was also marred by four red cards, all to Tiffin in the second half. The GLIAC's two leading scorers, Andre Landell and Michael McPeek, were both issued red cards in the second half.
Northwood outshot Tiffin 18-9 and held a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. Jeremy Ashley took the loss in goal, making 8 saves over 90 minutes.
