SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio - Senior Danielle McQuade and junior Lu Phillips had double-figures in kills as the Tiffin University volleyball team (4-0) beat Ursuline (1-4) 3-1 (25-12, 25-17, 18-25, 25-19), Wednesday night at the Laurel School.
In the opening set, Tiffin opened up an early 4-0 lead. Ursuline scored three straight points to close to a point. The Dragons went on a 10-5 run to effectively end the set.
In the second set, the Arrows battled from a four point deficit. Alex Leister got the line to make it 16-15, TU. Tiffin closed on a 9-2 run to go up 2-0.
In the third set, Ursuline was in charge with a 16-12 lead. The Dragons picked up an ace from junior Sarah Haman and a kill from junior Chelsea Stockmeyer to make it 16-14. That was as close as they could get.
The fourth set went back and forth until TU led 8-7. Tiffin went on a 10-4 burst to end the match.
For Tiffin, McQuade had 14 kills and 13 digs while Phillips had 12 kills and three service aces. Junior Tiffany Buchinger had 48 assists. Senior Jordan Jenkins had 30 digs, her 24th consecutive double-digit dig performance.
For Ursuline, Kelly Stenger had 17 digs and Leister had 15 digs.
Tiffin remains on the road, Friday, Sept. 20, taking on Walsh. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
