Tiffin University (11-2-3, 9-2-3 GLIAC) needed a win.
And they got a win.
The Dragons defeated Northwood 2-1 in another close GLIAC matchup, a win that, coupled with Ohio Dominican's 2-2 tie with Walsh, gave TU a share of the GLIAC regular season championship. The victory by TU also guarantees them a seeding of second in the tourney, as Ohio Dominican holds the head-to-head tiebreaker and will host the GLIAC Tournament Final Four starting Nov. 8.
The Dragons got on the board in the 9th minute when Andre Carvalho-Landell took a pass from Michael McPeek and chipped it over the line of defense to give TU a 1-0 halftime lead.
They added another goal in the 75th minute when Oliver Verdult finished off a deflection from Karl Jones's free kick to put TU up 2-0. Northwood put in a shot from 25 yards out in the 83rd minute to get back to a one goal deficit, but the Dragons did not allow another shot over the remaining 7 minutes for the victory.
TU held a 12-8 edge in shots, while Jeremy Ashley got the win in goal, making 3 saves.
