Tiffin University (10-2-3, 8-2-3 GLIAC) kept its GLIAC title hopes alive by battling Saginaw Valley State to a 1-1 double overtime tie on the road. The Dragons remain in second place pending the outcome of Ohio Dominican's game with Findlay, making a win on Sunday in their regular season finale at Northwood a must-win for TU if they wish to win the regular season crown.
The Dragons, who also tied the Cardinals back on Homecoming weekend 1-1 in a weather-shortened game, opened scoring in the 7th minute when Andre Carvalho-Landel drilled home a free kick goal from 20 yards out. The Dragons held on to the lead until the 26th minute when the Cardinals hit their own shot from 20 yards out into the left side to tie the score 1-1 at the half.
Both teams had opportunities to score throughout the game, with the Dragons holding a 4-2 shot edge in the first overtime, but neither team could tally the winning goal.
Saginaw Valley held a 27-14 shot advantage overall, but TU held the slim edge 6-5 on shots on goal.
Jeremy Ashley posted 4 saves in 110 minutes of work.
