BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Senior Danielle McQuade had a double-double as the Tiffin University volleyball team (5-5, 1-5 GLIAC) lost 3-1 (25-12, 20-25, 25-14, 25-13) to #22 Ferris State (11-3, 6-0 GLIAC), Friday night at Ewigleben Arena.
In the opening set, it was back and forth for the early part. Senior Sabine Stadler recorded a kill to make it 10-8. Ferris State went on a 6-1 run to put the game out of reach.
In the second set, Tiffin came out firing, jumping to an 11-6 lead. The Bulldogs fired back with a 13-6 burst. That made it 19-17, FSU.
Following a kill by McQuade, junior Chelsea Stockmeyer served up five straight points to lead 23-19. Ferris State got a kill; however spikes from Stadler and McQuade ended the set.
In the third set, the Bulldogs took an early 9-7 lead. FSU then went on a 9-3 run to put the set out of reach.
In the fourth set, Ferris State led 8-5. Stockmeyer crushed one off the block to make it 8-7. The Bulldogs responded with a 10-4 burst to effectively end the match.
For Tiffin, McQuade had 18 kills and 15 digs while junior Lu Phillips had 12 digs. Senior Jordan Jenkins had 24 digs, her 30th consecutive double-digit dig performance.
For Ferris State, Courtney Rehm had 16 kills and Alexis Huntey added 13. Brandie Merren had 16 digs and Stephanie Sikorski had 41 assists.
Tiffin remains on the road, Saturday, Oct. 5, taking on Grand Valley State. The match is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. Live Stats will be available at
