The Tiffin University volleyball team ended their 2025 season on Saturday afternoon with a five-set 3-2 victory against Northwood (25-19, 25-17, 26-28, 22-25, 15-13) on senior day.
The Dragons end the year 11-13 overall and 6-9 in the G-MAC and just missed out on the final G-MAC Tournament berth as Tiffin was on the wrong end of the tiebreaker with Northwood.
The Dragons never trailed in the opening set and jumped out to a 14-8 lead thanks to three attack errors by the Timberwolves. Northwood rallied to get within one, but the Dragons were able to hold them off to take the opening set. Maddie Daniel and Parker Vackert recorded back-to-back kills to set up set point and Northwood had an attack error to end the set.
Tiffin got off to another blistering start in the second set and once again never trailed. Back-to-back kills by Kaylee Freund gave Tiffin an 11-3 advantage. Northwood again attempted another late comeback and cut the deficit to five but back-to-back kills by Olivia Karhoff gave the Dragons a 2-0 set advantage.
The Dragons were in prime position for a sweep but were unable to finish. Kills by Vackert and Freund made it match point at 25-24 and the Timberwolves won four of the final five points to win the 28-26 marathon set.
Northwood never trailed in the fourth set and led by as many as six. Tiffin twice cut the deficit to two but could not get any closer. Two kills from Vackert made it 24-22 and Northwood forced the deciding fifth set with a kill on the next point.
Tiffin turned a 7-5 deficit into a 10-8 lead with three kills and an ace by Maggie Pavlansky. Northwood rallied to make it 13-13 but the Dragons rallied back and clinched the match with back-to-back kills, one by Daniel and one by Freund.
Olivia Karhoff led the way offensively, pouring in a career high 29 kills. Freund had 15 and Daniel had 14 while Katelyn Owens and Vackert finished with 11 and 10, respectively.
The Dragons recorded 82 kills as a team, their most in a match this season. Maggie Pavlansky dished out 64 assists while Morgan Morley recorded a team high 25 digs.
