TIFFIN, Ohio - Junior Jordan Jenkins had 26 digs as the Tiffin University volleyball team (4-8, 0-6 GLIAC) lost 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-18) to #23 Ferris State (11-3, 5-1 GLIAC), Friday evening at the Gillmor Center.
In the opening set, Tiffin took it to the nationally ranked Ferris State squad, running out to a 10-7 lead. The Bulldogs got kills from Anne Sutton and Courtney Rehm to make it 10-9.
The Dragons responded with a 6-2 run. TU stuffed a FSU hitting attempt to make it 16-11. Ferris State responded with a 12-5 burst to make it 23-21. Junior Danielle McQuade ripped one down the line to make it 23-22. The Bulldogs got two straight kills to end the set.
In the second set, the team went back-and-forth early on. Sophomore Tiffany Buchinger dumped the ball over the net to make it 9-8, FSU. Ferris State then scored six straight point to effectively end the set.
In the third set, the Bulldogs jumped to an early 10-4 lead. FSU pushed it to 20-12 before Tiffin began fighting back. They reeled off a 5-2 run. McQuade crushed the ball off the block to make it 22-17. After trading points, Ferris State got back-to-back blocks to end the match.
McQuade had nine kills to lead the attack. This was the second straight game that Jenkins had at least 20 digs.
For Ferris State, Sutton had 12 kills while Angi Kent recorded 11. Samantha Fordyce had 44 assists.
