A physical defensive game was decided by a breakaway goal early in the second half, as Ashton Campbell took a through ball and knocked it home to give Tiffin University (5-2-1) a 1-0 win over visiting Malone (5-5) University.
Both teams managed five shots apiece in a scoreless first half, but Campell took a two-touch pass from Michael O'Neill and Edison Benda in the 55th minute and put it past Felipe Monteiro for the gamewinner.
TU's defense then was forced to hold on, as Malone managed 7 shots in the second half and also benefited from a 9-6 edge in corner kicks, 5-1 in the second half.
Jeremy Ashley had another strong game in goal, working 90 minutes and making 5 saves in the shutout, his fifth of the season.
TU now travels to Findlay for another GLIAC matchup on Sunday, Oct. 2.
