TIFFIN, Ohio - Junior Alexandra Sevastakis' sliding goal late in the game pushed the Tiffin University women's soccer team (7-3-2, 6-1-1 GLIAC) past Michigan Tech (4-6-1, 2-6-1 GLIAC) 2-1, Friday afternoon at Paradiso Field.
At the 49:19 mark, junior Sheena Maravich found Sevastakis in the corner. She immediately flicked the ball to sophomore Lauren Bowyer. Bowyer lifted the ball from 25 yards out and found the upper right corner.
At the 57:07 mark, the Dragons turned the ball over in front of the box. Katie Boardman took advantage putting the ball into the net to make it 1-1.
With 5:23 to go, senior Shelly Rogers drove the baseline and was taken down. While falling she passed the ball out in front of the net. Sevastakis slid about five feet on her knees to knock the ball into the net.
For Tiffin, they had 12 shots with eight on goal, five corner kicks and were called for four fouls. It was Rogers' 11th assist of the season, which is the most in NCAA Division II and tied for the most in all three divisions. Junior Lindsay Gallagher had six saves on the day.
For Michigan Tech, they had 12 shots with seven on goal, seven corner kicks and were called for 11 fouls. MaryBeth Spoehr had six saves.
