For the Dragons, it all comes down to one game.
Tiffin University used a strong offensive attack coupled with good defense to post a solid 3-1 win over visiting Ashland, setting up a showdown with Lake Erie at 3 pm Oct. 30 at Paradiso Fields to decide the final spot in the 2011 GLIAC Tournament.
The victory puts TU's record at 8-5-3, 4-4-3 while Lake Erie is one game ahead in 4th place with a 8-7-2, 5-4-2 mark. The Eagles fall to 5-9-3, 3-6-2 with the loss to TU.
The two teams battled through the first 45 minutes to a scoreless tie. But TU exploded for three second half goals, getting two of those goals in a 5:00 span.
In the 60th minute, Pierre De Pauw drilled home a two-touch pass from Ashton Campbell and Edison Benda for the first goal of the day. This was followed in the 64th minute by Campbell's blast off a Benda feed to make it 2-0.
Ashland kept up the assault, outshooting TU 14-11 in the second half and forcing TU goalkeeper Jeremy Ashley to make a number of outstanding saves. Ashley finished with 11 saves in 90 minutes.
TU put the nail in the coffin in the 80th minute when Joshua Link took an inside pass from Jingze Quan and scored to make it 3-0.
The only blemish of the day came when Ashland finally scored with 2 seconds remaining in the game, Danny Lusheck getting the goal off a corner kick by Kenny Hewitt.
