Tiffin University's women's basketball team had little trouble at Salem International University, dominating the Wildcats 89-27 to improve to 7-4 overall.
The Dragons' win set a new record for largest margin of victory, as they won by 62 points. They nearly set two other team records, as their 27 points allowed fell one point shy of the 26 points allowed during the 1987-88 season. The Dragons also registered 25 assists, two shy of the 27 in a game set in the 1993-94 season.
The Dragons raced out to a 47-14 halftime advantage. The Dragons had little trouble, especially inside with a significant height edge. TU outscored Salem in the paint 42-2, and also had a 32-0 advantage in points off turnovers. Tiffin forced 25 turnovers while committing only 6 miscues.
The Dragons shot 56 percent overall while holding Salem to 22 percent, and also outrebounded the Wildcats 39-24.
Mandy Jaeb led the way with 27 points and 7 assists, giving her 988 career points. She will return home in her next contest against Northern Michigan on Jan. 2 needing just 12 points to become the 14th Dragons player to reach 1000 points.
Karli Mast added 21 points, while Melissa Gilliland also reached double figures with 15 points. Mary Kate Campbell had 7 points and was one of four Dragons players with 5 rebounds. She was joined by Amanda Baute, Jessica Harris, and Jillian Adams.
Steph Kelly and Holly Focke also had 6 assists apiece for TU.
