Men's Soccer Falls in Semis of GLIAC Tournament

ASHLAND, Ohio - The 2010 TU men's soccer team fell Thursday night as Tiffin (11-6-1) lost to Ohio Dominican (13-5-1) 4-1 Thursday afternoon in the first semifinal game of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament at Ashland, Ohio.

The Dragons outshot the Panthers 12-11, but Ohio Dominican's goalie Tyler Gleason was able to grab 5-of-6 shots faced compared to 4-of-8 for TU's Jeff Frisch. Individually for the Dragons, Ryan Johnstone scored his second goal of the season on a header from Christopher Hoerle.

For Ohio Dominican, Pat McGrath tallied a pair of goals and Felix Darko provided the game winner in the 62nd minute of the second half.

Tiffin scored first in the game off a free kick in the 17th minute. After the ball was kicked in the box, Hoerle's header found Johnstone, who headed the ball in to the back of the net. Less than three minutes later, Ohio Dominican scored the equalizer when Andrew Edler found McGrath on the right side. The game went into halftime tied at one.

Three goals over 14 minutes in the second stanza gave the Panthers the three-goal win. AJ Mueller's through ball found Darko, who beat the goalie one-on-one from 10 yards out. McGrath's header in the 62nd minute added insurance while Chris Curry scored another goal seven minutes later when he beat the goalie on the left side.
