TIFFIN, Ohio - Taking a two goal lead into halftime, the Dragons added a trio of goals in a five minute span as Tiffin (5-5-0, 3-3-0 GLIAC) defeated Findlay (1-7-1, 1-5-1) 5-1 Sunday afternoon at the Paridiso Soccer Fields.
Tiffin outshot Findlay 20-12 for the game, including 11-5 in shots on goal. Individually, Ashton Campell scored the first two goals of the game for the Dragons, followed by single tallies by Rhys Cannella, Pierre De Pauw and Edison Benda in the second half. Michael O'Neill added a pair of assists.
In goal for TU, Jeff Frisch allowed a goal on three shots faced in 77:14 of work, improving to 5-3 on the year. Scott Felgar saved the only shot faced in relief of Frisch.
For Findlay, Matt Farkas scored his first goal of the year and had three total shots. Matthew Brooks added five saves and falls to 1-6-0 for the year.
For the second time this season, Campbell scored multiple goals against Findlay. At the 14:02 mark, Campbell headed in a ball off a cross from O'Neill to put Tiffin up 1-0. The Dragons kept the pressure on the Oilers, going up 2-0 when Campbell headed in a cross from De Pauw. Campbell now has nine goals for the season, five against the Oilers.
In a 4:45 span in the second half, Tiffin turned a two goal advantage into a 5-0 lead. In the 58th minute, Cannella scored his second goal of the season off of a throw-in from O'Neill. It was O'Neill's second assist of the game.
At the 61:20 mark, Pierre De Pauw scored on a cross from Campell for his third goal of the season. Tiffin wasted no time exploiting the Findlay defense when Edison Benda scored off a missed shot by Campbell. It was Benda's fourth goal of the year.
Findlay tallied a lone goal for the final 5-1 tally for the game. In the 78th minute, Farkas shot right in front of the goal to cut the deficit to four. Tiffin held Findlay scoreless over the final 12 minutes to close out the win.
Tiffin returns to action next Friday (Oct. 8) when it hosts non-conference foe Urbana. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
