Dragons avenge early season loss with 2-1 win over Ashland

Tiffin University avenged an earlier season loss at home against 16th-ranked Ashland, beating the Eagles in Ashland 2-1 in a thrilling game.

Ashland opened scoring in the 22nd minute when Louis Clark beat Jeff Frisch one-on-one on the left side to give the Eagles the early 1-0 lead.

TU answered 7 minutes later when the GLIAC's leading scorer, Ashton Campbell, took a through ball from Michael O'Neill down the middle and drilled the tying goal from 18 yards out into the top right corner. TU and Ashland were tied at the half 1-1.

Both teams played each other close throughout the game, with Ashland holding a 11-8 shot advantage while TU managed a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

Tiffin's Edison Benda put the Dragons ahead in the 71st minute, taking a cross into the box from Ryan Johnstone and heading it home to the bottom left corner for the game-winning goal.

Ashland managed three more shots over the final 20 minutes, with two being on goal. Frisch made a save on an Ashland shot in the 83rd minute, and the Dragons defense tightened up, not allowing another shot over the final 7 minutes.

Frisch got the win in goal, making 2 saves over 90 minutes.
