TIFFIN, Ohio - The Dragons' Ashton Campbell recorded a single tally in each half while Adam Fussell scored his first goal on his first shot of the season as Tiffin (8-5-1, 5-3-1) defeated Saginaw Valley (6-6-2, 4-5-2) Thursday afternoon in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference showdown at Paradiso Fields.

For the game, the Dragons outshot the Cardinals 20-4, including 6-1 in shots on target.

Tiffin scored the only goal in the first half at the 23:33 mark. Campbell, from the right side, shot the ball past the left post. Pierre De Pauw was able to keep the ball before it went out of bounds, crossed the ball back to the center for Campbell, who slammed it home for his 11th goal of the season.

For the first period, the Dragons put four of their 12 shots on goal. Saginaw Valley only managed one shot that went high.

The Cardinals missed a golden opportunity to tie the contest early in the second half. Less than four minutes into the period, Palazzolo pushed a ball to TU's Jeff Frisch on the left side for Saginaw Valley's only shot on goal. Though he stopped the ball, the ball slipped through Frisch's hand to Saginaw Valley's Noah Sawyer. His shot went left, but he was awarded a yellow card in the process as the Dragons held firm.

Tiffin added the critical insurance goal from an unlikely source in the 58th minute. Campbell left the ball for his teammate 30 yards out. From there, Fussell blasted the shot inside the left post for his first goal of the season and put the Dragons up 2-0.

It was the third verse, same as the first, for the exclamation point on the game when Campbell added his 12th goal of the season in the game's 87th minute from De Pauw. The shot sailed over the goalie's head for the final tally of the game.

The Dragons return to action Saturday (Oct. 23) for senior day. Kickoff is 2 p.m.
