Kayla Tierney

Kayla Tierney joined the Tiffin University women's basketball program as an Assistant Coach in July of 2026.

The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native was a five-year Division II player for Northern Michigan University. She holds the record for most games played in program history (138). She not only never missed a game but contributed in every one of those games. Tierney also was a part of Northern Michigan women’s basketball history, helping to lead the Wildcats to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.

In addition to her playing career, Tierney gained valuable coaching experience with 1on1 Milwaukee AAU Basketball, serving as both a head coach and assistant coach. In those roles, she developed practice plans, contributed to player development initiatives, and collaborated with fellow coaches and program directors.

Tierney also worked with youth athletes in grades 4-12 as an assistant coach at RiseUp Basketball and Northern Elite Basketball camps throughout Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Tierney graduated from Northern Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in Applied Exercise Science and Health, with a concentration in Sport and Fitness Leadership. She later earned a master's degree in Exercise Science.
