Zach Trevino was named the Quarterbacks Coach at Tiffin University in March of 2026 and enters his first season leading the Dragons’ quarterback room. At 23 years old, Trevino is one of the youngest quarterbacks coaches in college football.
Trevino joined Tiffin after serving as the Assistant Quarterbacks Coach at Northern Illinois University during the 2026 offseason, working directly with the Huskies’ quarterbacks.
Prior to Northern Illinois, Trevino spent two seasons on staff at Western Illinois University. He joined the Leathernecks in May 2024 in a Quality Control role assisting with the quarterbacks. During the 2024 season, he helped guide Western Illinois to the No. 1 offense in the OVC–Big South while working under head coach Joe Davis. Trevino assisted in the development of quarterback Nate Lamb, who finished No. 2 nationally in total offense, earned three OVC–Big South Player of the Week honors, and set both the school and conference single-game passing record with 564 passing yards against Lindenwood University.
Following the 2024 season, Trevino was promoted to Offensive Graduate Assistant, continuing his work with the quarterback room and offensive staff. In 2025, he played a key role in the recruitment and development of freshman quarterback Cason Carswell, who earned OVC–Big South Freshman of the Year honors.
Before entering the college ranks, Trevino transitioned to on-field coaching in 2023 at Solon High School, helping lead the program to an 11–2 season and a third-place finish in Iowa Class 3A. During his time at Solon, he helped develop running back Eddie Johnson, who earned First Team All-District and Second Team All-State honors.
Trevino began his coaching career in 2022 as a Strength and Conditioning Intern with the University of Connecticut football program, gaining hands-on experience with Division I athletes and building a strong foundation in performance training. He later continued his work in athletic development with the University of Iowa football program.
Trevino graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Physiology and is currently finishing his master’s degree in Communications at Western Illinois University.
