TIFFIN, Ohio – The Tiffin University women's cross country team opened the 2026 season in impressive fashion, capturing the team title at the Tiffin XC Open on Friday evening at the Paradiso Athletic Complex. The Dragons totaled 25 points to comfortably finish ahead of Wooster (51) and Ursuline (53) as runners competed in a 5K.
Leading the way for the Dragons was junior
Ally Denny, who crossed the finish line first overall in a time of 18:46.8 to claim the individual championship. Denny paced a strong Tiffin pack that placed five runners among the top 12 finishers.
Sophomore
Abbie Felske finished second overall in 19:43.9, while freshman
Laura Franks placed fourth with a mark of 19:57.9. Freshman
Quinlyn Spearman added a sixth place finish in 20:11.5 and senior
Caitlin Weitzel rounded out the scoring runners in 12th place with a time of 21:08.7.
Freshman
Kaydence Hoover narrowly missed the scoring lineup, placing 13th overall in 21:11.6, while freshman
Makiah Gurney finished 15th in 21:25.2.
Additional finishes for the Dragons included freshman
Ellie Givens (22:36.5), freshman
Summer Moehlman (24:09.6), and sophomore
June Dauterman (25:14.2).
Tiffin will look to build on its strong start as the Dragons continue their 2026 campaign at the G-MAC Preview Meet slated for Friday, September 25. Tiffin will host the meet at Hedges Boyer Park and it'll begin at 6 p.m.
