Tiffin University (5-3) won for the fifth time in six tries, opening its spring trip with a 8-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan and a 4-2 win over Davenport.
Ella Esterby got the win over her 5 innings of work, allowing no hits with 2 strikeouts and just one walk.
Tiffin banged out 12 hits and scored 6 runs in the bottom of the fourth to blow the game open.
Tiffin got its first two runs in the third inning.
McKenna Scott and
Jessica Miller reached on singles and Scott scored on
Reagan Mengerink's double. An error at third base on
Tori McPherson's grounder allowed Miller to score to make it 2-0, TU.
In the fourth,
Gwen McMenemy,
Jadyn Bassi, and
Tori Abel all singled to load the bases. Scott then walked to bring in a run. Miller doubled for two more runs and was followed by another double by Mengerink for 2 more RBIs. A
Tara Gall single drove in Tiffin's final run.
Miller had 3 hits while Mengerink had 2 hits for 3 RBIs. McMenemy also had 2 hits.
Against Davenport, Tiffin got another complete game victory from
Lexi Key. She allowed just 5 hits and one earned run.
Tiffin opened with 2 runs in the first inning. Scott singled and stole second. Walks by Mengerink and McPherson loaded the bases. Gall then drove in a run with a single, and Mengerink stole home to make it 2-0, TU.
With the score tied 2-2, TU took the lead for good in the fifth. Scott again singled and stole second. With two outs, McPherson singled to drive in the run.
TU got an insurance run in the seventh. Miller doubled and came home on another McPherson single.
