Two Tiffin University men's wrestlers advanced to the NCAA National Semifinals after day one of the NCAA Division II Men's Wrestling Championships.
Anthony Aniciete (125 pounds) and
Nolan Gessler (165) both reached the semis on day two with their national title hopes alive.
Aniciete posted wins over UNC Pembroke 10-2 and Chadron State in the quarterfinals 7-4, while Gessler defeated University of Mary 12-2 and held on for a narrow 5-3 win over Parkside in the quarters.
Posting exits after day one were
Emilio Arellano (174) and
Jake Powell (285).Â
Arellano opened with a win over Belmont Abbey 2-1 but then fell to Nebraska-Kearney 14-10 and Minnesota State 9-5.
Powell fell in his matches 15-1 to Nebraska-Kearney and by fall to Indianapolis in 3:24.
