Tiffin University women's lacrosse (2-4) dropped a non-conference contest to Lock Haven University 18-7 on Wednesday afternoon at the Paradiso Athletic Complex.
The Bald Eagles erupted for 15 straight goals to take control of the game. Lillian Graham tied the game at two halfway through the first period on a free position shot and Lock Haven retook the lead 30 seconds later, which started a string of 15 in a row.
Lock Haven took a 10-goal lead at the 11:43 mark of the second quarter to prompt the running clock, and it remained that way until the end.
Graham added another goal with 2:22 left in the third to end Lock Haven's streak. The Dragons put together a strong second half, outscoring the Bald Eagles 5-2 including 4-1 in the fourth quarter, but the strong first half proved to be too much to overcome. TU trailed 16-2 at halftime and was held scoreless in the second quarter.
Lock Haven took advantage of Tiffin penalties, scoring nine of their 18 goals a woman up.
Graham led the offense with four goals and Lauren Walsh added two goals. Isabelle Vranjes tallied one goal and Walsh, Aryanna Rykard, and Dana Shehadeh recorded one assist.
Brookelynne Brewer recorded a team high three ground balls and Rykard, Sarah Grover, and Kenna Wigginton each had two caused turnovers.
Sam Wermuth started at goalkeeper and took the loss in her first appearance of the season. Wermuth allowed nine goals and made one save in 15 minutes. Paige Waldrup also allowed nine goals in 45 minutes and made seven saves.
Ground balls were even at 25 apiece while Lock Haven held a 29-22 shot advantage. Tiffin corralled 11 of 26 draw controls.
